Holding Long and Short positions with different expiration dates on the same underlying product reduces the overall portfolio risk (though not entirely). Outright Position refers to a single position in a contract.

Spread Position involves paired positions with offsetting risks, for example:

• Holding two Long contracts in the same series is considered two Outright Positions.
• Holding Long positions in contracts with different expiration dates of the same underlying product is also two Outright Positions.
• Holding one Long and one Short position in contracts with different expiration dates of the same underlying product is a Spread Position (1 pair or 2 contracts).

It is necessary to monitor announcements of margin changes. If the margin increases, investors may need to check their Equity Balance (EB) to ensure it meets the new requirements. If the balance is insufficient, a margin call may occur. This is because the risk associated with the position may change over time, and partial margin coverage may no longer suffice for the contract's total risk at any given moment.
